On The Road Again!

Hello!

After 3 weeks of splendid rehearsals in the incredible Cornish countryside Illyria’s Comedy of Errors is out on the road. Once again I’m lucky enough to be working with an amazing cast and on a completely bonkers play that is exhaustingly wonderful (for the cast at least). Every cast member has blink and you’ll miss it costume changes and the show (set in Mexico) comes complete with sombreros and its very own Mariachi band!

All the tour dates can be found by clicking HERE. If you’re planning on coming along then feel free to let me know on Twitter or by posting on my Facebook page. Below is a snap from the show, featuring Adriana, Luciana and Dromio. The black and flowery outfit I wear as Adriana is my favourite costume of this show and I love how the set glows in the setting sun!

That’s all for now,

Nicola

On the Subject of Scones

Hello!

I’m not going to lie to you. I was raised to prepare my scones the Cornish way. First the jam and then the cream. My many Devonian friends revile me for this culinary choice but I firmly believe that the Cornish way is the best way. As a very small child and later a teenager we holidayed in Cornwall and I always found it to be a glorious place. You can imagine my elation then (no hyperbole) when I discovered that my next show would be rehearsing in Cornwall for three weeks. Three weeks rehearsing within a stone’s throw of Land’s End.Oh and our accommodation has a view of the sea. And it’s a five minute walk to the beach. And there’s a surf school.

Oh and did I mention, the show I’m rehearsing? It’s a Shakespeare.

IN. HEAVEN.

That’s all for now,

Mediaeval Mayhem and Witches of Oz

Hello!

This year has already got off to a cracking start with shows at the Mediaeval Banquet at The Abbeygate in Coombe Abbey going down a storm. There is a real team feeling to working at The Abbeygate and the cast are quite simply marvellous to work with.

Speaking of a great team, over the Christmas period I was back at the Blue Orange Theatre in Birmingham, taking on the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz, working with a lovely group of people led by director Tina Hoffman. Christmas time can often provide a child’s first experience of theatre and it was lovely to hear the children reacting to twists and turns of the story, not to mention joining in on Follow The Yellow Brick Road! Such high energy shows can often be hard work, but when you have a great supportive team to work with and the audience reaction to feed off it makes it all worth while.

That’s all for now,

In Memory of Miss Gaston

I wanna walk like you, talk like you!

Hello!

After two short holidays, (first to Holland and the second cruising the Warwickshire canals, both heartily recommended!) I have returned to work with a vengeance, prepping new demos and learning my script for my latest adventure, this time I shall be entering the jungle in a fast paced adaption of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book!

The new demos should appear over the next few weeks with any luck, depending on how busy my performance schedule gets, as I shall soon be starting yet another adventure! More information on that to follow…

That’s all for now,

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to London and tell the gang at 42nd street that I will soon be there…

Hello folks!

Well it’s been a mad few months. First I skipped off to the Emerald City as Dorothy for two months, then I moved to London as the night club singer Rose in Jekyll & Hyde, alternating that role with Constance (giving me a strong case of multiple personality disorder). Then as I was still reeling from the rave reviews my performances received (see Reviews section of the site for more info) I found myself in rehearsals for Give My Regards To Broadway

Hi Diddly Dee Dee, an actor’s life for me!

That’s all for now,

Multiple Personalities in Jekyll and Hyde… who’d have thought it?

Hello!

Cropped jump

That's right. That's me jumping for joy.

I am jumping for joy right now folks, Jumping – For – Joy!

I’m currently in rehearsals for Jekyll and Hyde, which opens in Birmingham on the 18th November, for a short run, before transferring to London in 2016. During the Birmingham run I shall be playing Rose, an East End club singer, who strays into the path of the vicious Hyde.

However, for the London run, I am thrilled to announce that – not only will I reprise the role of Rose – but I will also alternate with the role of Constance (the well educated fiancĂ©e of Henry Jekyll), playing Constance twice a week and Rose twice a week. These two characters are the antithesis of each other, so I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of switching between them. And no, the irony of playing two polar opposite roles in a production of Jekyll and Hyde is not lost on me either…!

I will publish full details of my performance dates, as soon as I have my completed schedule. So, watch this space!

That’s all for now,

Bye Bye Blackbird…

Hello!

After touring up and down the UK with Bless Em All, Mamma Mia, It’s ABBA! and The Cat Pack it’s time to tidy away my tea dresses, file away my flares and tuck my trilby back in the cupboard ready to start rehearsals for Jekyll and Hyde.

jekyll-hydeJekyll and Hyde will perform a short run at Birmingham in November and then transfer to London in January. Set in the 1930s this adaptation is close to the true spirit of the book and features a great cast, some of whom I have had the privilege to work with before.

More info will follow during rehearsals but until then, with one week left of concert performances to go, I suppose all I have to say is Thank You For The Music! (Groans)

That’s all for now!

Mamma Mia! How is it September Already?

Hello!

I’m dashing this off quickly in a break from rehearsals for my next show, which opens next week!

Once again I shall be back on tour, performing not one, not two but three shows in rep. As before I shall continue to perform Bless Em All and The Cat Pack but for Autumn I shall be adding an Abba show into the mix. If you’re interested in booking one (or more!) of these shows then please contact Cat’s Pyjamas via their website. Click HERE to be whisked away to their site.

This tour will run until the end of October when I start rehearsals for Jekyll and Hyde in Birmingham. More on that another time but I’m particularly happy to be part of this production as it is is set in the 1930s and I am in love with the 30s fashion!

That’s all for now,

Nicola
